Michael G. Sakellis, age 82 of Westbrook, CT., loving husband to Jeannie Kaltsas Sakellis passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 28, 2024 in his home with his loving family by his side. Born in Kos, but raised in Rhodes, Greece, he was the son of the late George and Christina Pelocanos Sakellis. Upon leaving Rhodes at the age of 18, he joined his family in Ontario, Canada and later moved to New York City where he met his wife. Michael enjoyed spending his summers in Rhodes, GR., traveling with his wife, and playing poker, where he earned the nickname 007. In addition to his loving wife Jeannie, he leaves behind his sons; George Sakellis and Michael Sakellis Jr, his daughter in law Effie Sakellis, and three grandchildren Michael, Emanuella, and Isabella, whom he adored. He is also survived by his brother Tom Sakellis and sister-in-law, Fotini of Ontario, Canada, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to go directly to St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 238 West Rocks, Norwalk on Monday, April 1, 2024 at 10:30am where the Rite of Burial will be officiated by Fr. Nicholas Dassouras followed by interment in Riverside Cemetery, Norwalk. In abiding with Michael’s wishes, calling hours have been omitted. The Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main Street, Bridgeport has been entrusted with the services. Donations may be made to the Yale New Haven Smilow Cancer Hospital in memory of Michael.
